Spurs had a dream start to 2017 with an emphatic 4-1 win over Watford which pushed them into the top four after Manchester City lost to Liverpool.
Harry Kane and Dele Alli were the goal scorers as they each picked up a brace with Christian Eriksen and Kevin Trippier also impressing.
First half dominance
The game started very slowly and whilst Spurs had the majority of the possession they struggled to do anything with it.
Eriksen had a penalty shout early in which was the highlight of the games first 20 minutes.
Harry Kane eventually brought the game to life when he slotted the ball into the net moments after Alli hit the crossbar.
Just five minutes later Kane got between two Watford defenders to volley a Kevin Trippier cross to double the visitors lead.
Alli finished the half off with the third goal for Spurs as they went into the break 3-0 up and in comfortably in control.
Effortless win in the end
Spurs picked up where they left off as Alli claimed his brace just 58 seconds into the second half to put Spurs 4-0 up.
With the job done Pochettino replaced Alli as well as Kane in the early stages of the second half with the mid-week Chelsea match obviously in mind.
Watford eventually woke up and managed to string together a few attacks which eventually saw Younes Kaboul score a very scrappy goal in extra time but it was little consolation as Watford capped off a dismal performance.
Spurs will host Chelsea on Wednesday and will be looking to bring the Blues’ winning record to an end and if they can emulate their performance against Watford they might just be able to do it.
