Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick as Juventus overcame a 2-0 first leg score to beat Atletico Madrid 3-0 in Turin on Tuesday night to seal place in the quarter-finals!
The odds were all stacked against Juventus who walked out with an uphill task following their 2-0 defeat in Madrid last month.
Ronaldo brought the tie to life in the 27th minute as he headered past Jan Oblak at the near post to give Juventus a way back into the tie.
A free-kick a few minutes later almost gifted Atletico a way to bury the tie, but a lofted delivery meant that Wojciech Szczesny gathered the ball with ease.
Federico Bernarderschi came close with an audacious bicycle kick attempt off a cross from Leonardo Spinazzola as Juventus headed into the shed with the game on a knifes edge.
It was just three minutes into the second half that Ronaldo brought Juventus as he once again rose to this time header home a good free-kick delivery from João Cancelo and suddenly there was a genuine sense of belief throughout Turin.
Juventus continued to press until finally, in the 84th minute, Bernadeschi was pulled down by Santiago Arias and the referee pointed to the spot.
All eyes fell on Ronaldo as he stepped up to take the spot-kick. He made no error and blasted the ball into the bottom left corner for his eighth Champions League hattrick and arguably the most memorable.
Juventus finally managed to see out the game as the fans rose to salute one of the greatest players to have ever graced the game who once again showed his class when his team needed it the most.
