Kings XI Punjab 177 for 2 (Rahul 71*, Mayank 43, Gayle 40) beat Mumbai Indians 176 for 7 (de Kock 60, M Ashwin 2-25) by eight wickets on Saturday thanks to a strong batting performance.

MI went in to bat first. Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma found the boundary frequently until the latter was dismissed for 32(18). De Kock kept up with the tempo scoring 60 runs off only 39 deliveries. A late surge from Hardik Pandya 31(19) propelled MI to 176-7 after 20 overs.
KXIP openers put the MI on the back foot from the first over who never seemed to recover throughout the match.
Lokesh Rahul was the only KXIP batsmen striking at less than 150. His teammates strike rates were Chris Gayle 167, Mayank Agarwal 204, David Miller 150 proved too hot for the MI bowlers.
