Tottenham will have to make some good transfers this summer if they want to challenge for major silverware next season. The Lilywhites have a quality side as things stand but there are some areas which they need to reinforce.
With the futures of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen uncertain, they may have to bring in a new world-class centre back. Another thing which Mauricio Pochettino needs to do is find a striker who can provide quality competition and cover to Harry Kane up front. Vincent Janssen has no future at the club and the aging Fernando Llorente is set to leave the North London side at the end of this season.
Both have failed to live up to expectations during their time at the club. One player whom Pochettino should consider signing to bolster his side is Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Fulham are bound for relegation this season and will have to part ways with a number of first-team regulars this summer in order to reduce their wage bill as they prepare for life in the second-tier.
Mitrovic has been one of the few bright sparks in a below par Fulham side this season and has so far scored ten goals in the top-flight. He would likely be able to better this in an environment such as Spurs where he would get better service.
By signing Mitrovic, Spurs would be bringing in someone who is young and a proven scorer in the Premier League. Mitrovic is a bully with the ball and is in many ways similar to former Chelsea striker Diego Costa. What the Serbian would be able to do alongside the likes of Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen is exciting.
