The Reds currently top the FA Championship table with 46 points, seven points clear of second place Tottenham Hotspur.
The result at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium means the Red Devils cannot be caught by either Charlton or Durham who sit third and fourth respectively. This confirms their move to the top flight for the 2019/2020 campaign.
United hosted Aston Villa on Wednesday night and were quick off the mark with Mollie Turner scoring in the sixth minute. Alex Greenwood and Jess Sigsworth put United three goals to the good by halftime. The second half saw Aston Villa goalkeeper Sian Rogers sent off after seeing red for handling outside the area. Ella Toone and Charlie Devlin scored one apiece to put United out of reach in the game and the title race.
Head coach Casey Stone has guided the ladies to 15 wins out of 17 with an astounding 81 goals scored in the league this season. The team from Manchester have been sure to remain strong defensively only conceding 7 goals this season.

United will take a step closer to winning the league if they can snatch a vital 3 points at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. Palace are without a win in two and are likely to be relegated this season from the Championship after securing 10 points from 17 games so far.
The promotion to the top flight is subject to meeting FA Women’s Super League (FAWSL) licence criteria although it is unlikely that United should encounter any problems on their way. Confirmation will be released next month.
Manchester United can look forward to facing the likes of FAWSL table-toppers Arsenal, champions Chelsea and a derby encounter with Manchester City in the FA Women’s Super League next season.
