Van Dijk was up against the likes of Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero, and Sadio Mane but received the nod from his fellow players.
He becomes the first defender to win the accolade since John Terry in 2004-05.
Miedema beat Steph Houghton, Nikita Parris, Keira Walsh, Erin Cuthbert and Ji So-yun in the race for Women’s Player of the Year after she led the Gunners to their first Women’s Super League title since 2012.
Steph Houghton was also recognized with the PFA Special Achievement award.
