Eden Hazard will reportedly be announced as a Real Madrid player after Chelsea’s Europa League final clash against Arsenal later this month with the forward set to be the centre of the Madrid rebuild.
Hazard has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants with L‘Équipe reporting that the deal has been finalized but the announcement being delayed so as not to interfere the Blues Europa League preparations.
In the wake of his departure, Maurizio Sarri has urged fans to respect his decision, whatever it may be.
“We know for the fans [Hazard] is very important,” Sarri said.
“We know Eden has played here in Chelsea for seven seasons; he tried in every match to do his best and now it is time to respect his decision. I hope he will remain with us.”
Hazard has already announced that a decision has been made about his future despite him not revealing what that decision is.
Following Chelsea’s final day draw against Leicester, Hazard was asked if top four was a major factor in his decision:
“No. I don’t think so. I have made my decision, that’s it.”
The Belgian ace confirmed that the club is aware of his decision and revealed that he wanted to have had the announcement made already which all but confirmed his departure.
“I wanted that but that’s not happened. I’m still waiting like you are waiting and like the fans are waiting, Hazard said.”
With Chelsea’s transfer ban being upheld, they will literally have no chance of replacing him and Sarri will have to look within his existing squad for someone to step up with Chelsea fans expressing their desire to see more of young sensation Callum Hudson-Odoi.
