Griezmann thanked the fans for the time he spent at the club.
“It’s been an incredible five years. Thank you for everything,” the French forward said.
“I wanted to tell the fans who have always given me a lot of love that I have taken the decision to leave, to see other things, to have other challenges,
“The truth is it has been difficult to take this route but it is what I feel I need and I would like to thank all of you for the love you have shown me during these five years.”
Griezmann has long been linked to a move away with clubs like Manchester United said to have been keen on the 28-year-old, but it appears that Barcelona will be his next destination after it has been reported that the Catalan giants will trigger his €120 million buy-out clause.
That means that Barcelona could have a front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Griezmann next season which will cast a lot of doubt over the careers of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembélé.
