Frans Steyn and Cobus Reinach are among 26 players that have been called up for a Springbok alignment camp in Pretoria which marks the start of official preparations ahead of the international season.
The squad of 26 is a collection of overseas and locally-based players but excluded those from the Sharks and Bulls who travelled to Australasia for the Super Rugby quarter-finals. Players from those unions will join the camp in Monday 1 July.
Kwagga Smith, Herschel Jantjies and Rynardt Elstadt are two surprise call ups after both impressed in this year’s Super Rugby campaign whilst the glaring omissions are Wilco Louw and Damian Willemse as well as Lions outside centre Lionel Mapoe.
