On Thursday, the South African Rugby Union (Saru) announced the addition of an Argentinean team, the Jaguares XV which will add some stiff competition to the Currie Cup First Division, sponsored by DirectAxis Financial Services, which kicks off this weekend.
The South Americans, who will be based on Potchefstroom, will be coached by former Argentina international Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe and will this weekend feature current Jaguares scrumhalf Gonzalo Bertranou who is making his return from injury.
The team will also feature two players from the Argentina U20 Championships in the form of captain Juan Pablo Castro and Mateo Carreras.
The Currie Cup First Division gets underway this weekend where the defending champions, SWD Eagles, start their campaign away from home, against the Valke in Brakpan
