After months of speculation, Juventus have finally confirmed that they won the race for teenage sensation and Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt.
The young centre back was heavily linked to Manchester United and Barcelona after enjoying a stellar season which saw him captain Ajax to a Champions League semi-final as well as the Eredivisie Title before coming up short in the UEFA Nations League final where he started next to Virgil van Dijk.
De Ligt has signed a five-year contract which is rumoured to be worth up to £176.2m after add ons with the star set to earn between £300,000 and £416,000 a week depending on certain performance bonuses.
Juventus paid £67.8m to Ajax to secure the signature of the youngster as they continue to pave the way ahead in the transfer window with new stories now emerging that Neymar’s father (who acts as his agent) is in Turin trying to negotiate a deal with the Italian giants.

Juventus have had a whirlwind of a summer with big-name signings Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot also joining the list next to de Ligt whilst club legend Gigi Buffon has also made a return.
With former Chelsea man Maurizio Sarri at the helm, the club plans on not only being a force to be reckoned with in the Serie A, it is a team built to challenge for the Champions League.
