Manchester United have finally confirmed the signing of centre back Harry Maguire for a mammoth £85 million, a new record transfer for a defender.
The record was previously held by Liverpool for their £75 million move for Virgil van Dijk.
Maguire joins from Leicester City where he made 76 appearances for the Foxes, scoring five goals and assisting three in his two seasons there.
It marks a meteoric rise oft he England international who was part of the Hull City that was relegated in 2015 before gaining immediate promotion in 2015/16 which was the season before he moved to Leicester.
Maguire has penned a six-year contract with the option to extend by another year and marks a long-needed addition in the position for the Red Devils.
He will have the full week to train with United and could well line up next to Victor Lindelof on Sunday against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.
