On Friday, Cricket South Africa confirmed the appointment of bizhub Highveld Lions head coach Enoch Nkwe as the interim Team Director for the Standard Bank Proteas for the upcoming T20 and Test Series against India.
Nkwe took charge of the Johannesburg franchise last year and led them to two domestic titles as the bagged the CSA T20 Challenge and the Four-Day Series trophies.
He also steered the Jozi Starts to the championship in the inaugural Mzansi Super League.
Nkwe will have the opportunity to hand pick his team for the Indian tour which means that there could be a few more Lions staff members donning the Proteas colours.
Speaking on the appointment, Nkwe told Csa that he is excited about the opportunity.
“It is a tremendous honour and privilege to lead the Standard Bank Proteas as the interim team director. It is a special moment for me and my family and I will do my best to make a difference in this interim period. I am extremely excited about the challenge that lies ahead and am looking forward to meeting all players and staff”, he said.
“Thanks also to Cricket South Africa for giving me this opportunity and hopefully we will return from India with positive results.”
