Real Madrid want to continue their rebuilding since the departure of Christiano Ronaldo with the acquisition of long term dream target Kylian Mbappe, according to Marca. Madrid are reportedly ready to allow the young French star to run down his contract at PSG, which expires in 2022.
President Florentino Perez is said to be ‘obsessed’ with bringing the World Cup winning star to Madrid much like he was with Ronaldo. Perez has accepted that despite spending over €300 millions on players such as Hazard, Jovic, Militão, Mendy, Rodrygo and Areola, the Spanish giants are still short of the desired “star” man that is accustomed with Real Madrid. Bale, Asensio, Benzema, Hazard, Vinicius Jnr, Jovic and James have yet to stake their claim as Madrid’s main men with starting places still up for grabs.
With two and a half years remaining on Mbappe’s deal, Real are willing to wait until the summer of 2021 and hope that he withstands the pressure to pen new terms. It is widely known that Real Madrid have been tracking the French sensation for years and are confident of beating competition from the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus.
The 20-year-old has made a slow start to the new season at the Parc des Princes with two goals in his first five games coupled with several injuries. But Madrid will look to last year where Mbappe struck 39 times in 43 appearances as PSG won another Ligue 1 title.
