South African capped spinner, Dane Piedt has made a bold and ambitious decision as he called quits on his time in South Africa to head to the USA to continue his cricket career.
Piedt (30) has never been one for following the norm and this follows another step in unchartered territory as he joins former South African seamer Rusty Theron who has already been capped for the national side.
“The USA were given ODI status last year so it’s completely out of the question,” Piedt told ESPNcricinfo.
Piedt cited personal reasons behind the move as well.
“I just signed the deal this morning but no one really knows when I will be able to travel. It was an opportunitunity I just couldn’t pass up, financially and for lifestyle lifestyle reasons, but it was still a tough decision to make.”
Piedt will begin by particiapting win the Minor T20 league with a possible international career in the stars and stripes a very real possibility.
