Crickert South Africa have confirmed that they are nearing a deal for the permanent appointment of Graeme Smith as Director of Cricket following his service on an interim role since December.
Smith initially had Indian Premier League (IPL) commentary commitments which were going to prevent him from being involved at CSA for the duration of the tournament however, with the delay of the tournament it looks like there is now the opportunity to secure Smith’s long term future.
‘We are in final negotiations and hope to make an announcement next week,’ said CSA acting chief executive officer Jacques Faul about Smith.
There has been no communication about the situation of the upcoming seires against Sri Lanka which will include three ODI’s and as many T20’s but SMith has said that they will need a minimum of six weeks preparation before any series.
