Lionel Messi has hand picked 15 young stars that he believes will go on to become top players as part of a set of Topps Champions League card that have been designed by the maestro.
While there are few suprises to see some names on the list such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kylian Mbappe, Messi also picked out two young English midfielders in Phil Foden and Mason Mount.
Messi claimed Foden will do “amazing things in the game. He has huge talent’ while Mount “has the potential to be one of the best”.
Two Barcelona team mates make the list in Ousmane Dembele and Frenkie de Jong while a few surprise selections include Real Madrid’s Eder Militao and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar who has been linked with several moves away from Ligue 1.
As one of the best players ever to have graced the pitch, Messi certainly knows what it takes to become a top player, and therefore it will certainly be interesting to see just how high these 15 young players can go in their careers which have only just begun.
