The Premier League and its clubs have tried to do their part and assist those affected by the COVD-19 pandemic, with Crystal Palace the latest club to announce further support for charities. On April 3, the Premier League announced it would give £20 million to the NHS and various other charities.

Various Premier League clubs are assisting through their own avenues. Liverpool made a £40,000 donation to “Fans Supporting Foodbanks” charity to help with the increase in demand. Manchester City and Manchester United combined to give £100, 000 to help food banks in the city.
Crystal Palace is the latest club to do their part for their South London community. In a statement released by the club today, the Eagles outlined their new initiative.
“Beginning last week, club chefs are preparing and packaging up to 900 nutritious and nourishing meals a week in the kitchens at Selhurst Park, following the strictest hygiene and social distancing measures, which are then collected each day and distributed by charity organization City Harvest.”
According to the Crystal Palace statement; the meals will be delivered to frontline workers, elderly and vulnerable people forced to stay at home, families facing poverty, and homeless people. The programme is being funded by the club and certain stakeholders.
Everton launched a similar campaign to assist individuals affected by COVID-19. The club created a £50,000 campaign that will help individuals with essentials such as prescription purchases, increase fuel bills, and mental health assistance.
The Premier League is still on suspension with no return date set, as the UK deals with the COVID-19 pandemic.
