Inter Milan have rejected a £54m bid for on-loan striker Mauro Icardi, leaving the door open for Chelsea to make a move for the Italian star.
Icardi has long been on the way out of Inter Milan after a falling out with Fans saw him axed from the first-team squad.
The prolific goal scorer joined the French champions on loan for the 2019/20 season and scored 12 goals across 20 matches in all competitions.
With Edinson Cavani set to leave in the summer, PSG have submitted an offer to Inter of £54m including bonuses in an effort the lockdown the 27-year-old, but have since had the offer turned down by the Italian club.
This could give Chelsea the chance to try and lure the forward to the Premier League with Frank Lampard on the lookout for proven goalscorers to mentor a young and inexperienced squad.
Whilst never far from controversy, a reputation that has not been improved by his wife and agent Wanda Nara, Icardi’s numbers cannot be disputed.
He has scored a total of 185 goals and 36 assists across 322 games in his club career and seems to be reaching his peak.
