PSG captain Thiago Silva is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea on Thursday after informing the Paris club of his intentions to leave after his contract expired following the Champions League final.
Silva will reportedly have the medical in Milan before flying o the United Kingdom where he will go into self-isolation for the mandatory 14-day period as per current UK COVID-19 restrictions.
The Brazilian centre-back is believed to have been offered a one-year contract with the option to extend by a further year as is mandatory within Chelsea’s transfer stance of ageing players.
The veteran has already said goodbye to PSG and the fans on Wednesday after his contract expired and was in high demand with Chelsea haven beaten Napoli and Everton for the star’s signature.
Silva will become the second defensive addition to Frank Lampard’s squad after Ben Chilwell was confirmed on Wednesday evening.
Chelsea have made a strong statement with their transfer business with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner already training with the squad while Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
It still remains to be seen what will happen to out of favour goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga but it looks likely the Spaniard will remain in London for another season.
